Several tame Sumatran elephants (Elephas maximus sumatranus), guided by their mahouts, were deployed to help clear piles of wooden debris.
The elephants assisted in removing wood debris that blocked roads and residential areas following a natural disaster in Meunasah Bie Village, Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh, on Monday (December 8, 2025).
The Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA Aceh) deployed four trained Sumatran elephants to help clean up wooden debris covering residents’ homes in the aftermath of a flash flood that struck Pidie Jaya Regency.
